Something for everyone
At Open Gardens, you know to expect beautiful gardens, wildlife areas, veggie plots and fish ponds galore. But you will find much more to keep the whole family entertained and inspired. Here is a sneak peek of some of the additional points of interest at this year’s event (with garden numbers):
For all ages
• Mosaic work using vintage china and old tiles (1)
• Churchyard wildlife community garden, with information about how it is managed through Eco-church; other points of interest and history about the church (2)
• Small display of posters, programmes and photos, celebrating our 10th Open Gardens event (6)
• Exotics, like banana, Gingko biloba and Mimosa (7)
• More exotics and hopefully a flowering banana (8)
• Home energy efficiency stall, with experts to advise on heat pumps, solar and other eco home improvements (11)
• In the former school that many of you, young and old, attended, a therapeutic garden for children (12)
• Sensory areas, wheelbarrow gardens, fish pond (13)
• Plant sale (15)
For children
• Garden chess and other play equipment; secret paths (5)
• Barefoot maze; a selection of sculptures to find (9)
• Cats (10 in residence!), chickens and guinea pigs, all free-range (10)
