Music Programme
This year we have a packed programme of live music for you to enjoy while you’re visiting the gardens. Huge thanks, once again, to Kathryn Nall for coordinating such a fantastic selection, and to all the musicians for generously volunteering. Numbers indicate the garden numbers – see your programme for the addresses. Timings will be released a few days before the event – look out for announcements on social media and here on our website. Here’s what you can expect:
(1) Jazz Duo: Rilassati. Anita vocals and Robert guitar.
(2, 14) Shakey Breaks the Ice. An instrumental trio who play swing jazz, mixed with French café music, gypsy and Klezmer tunes (see their website for more details). Hugh Boyd (guitar); Bert Santilly (accordion); Trevor Barlow (clarinet and Sax).
(2) Tous les Trois Sax Trio. 2 x Alto saxes and a baritone sax, led by Sara Morrison, with Carrie Bateman and Gilly Greet, playing pieces covering many genres, jazz, swing, latin, pop, musical theatre and folk. All pieces arranged by Ian Morrison.
(3) Susan and friends will play an assortment of Irish Folk music.
(4) Four Larks comprises David Warren, Cornet; Jayne Grey, Tenor Horn; Judith Shelley, Baritone Horn and Peter Edwards, E-flat Bass Tuba. We entertain ourselves and our audiences by playing arrangements of 4-part vocal music, popular songs, and original pieces written for Brass Quartet.
(5) Dan Ecclestone (ukelele) and Pete Bull (Violin). Popular song arrangements for the garden.
(6, 15) Patricia Davies, Recorder Music. Early start, late finish – music through the ages for a summer’s day.
(8) An eclectic mix of solo and full band performances by local music students.
(9) The Impingtones. We are a friendly community choir that meets once a week to experience the pleasure of singing together. We sing mostly pop, folk and musical scores and aim to be a fun choir for anyone with or without previous singing experience.
(14) Clare House Clarinets. Led by Sara Morrison, this Clarinet quartet/quintet plays predominantly classical arrangements, with some Joplin rags and Gershwin songs thrown in for good measure. Steph Baughen, Simone Few, Trish Gallagher and Karen Hills.
(15) Offshoot Flutes. Flute ensemble.
